Historic Pirates Homestand

June 27 to July 2 2025 will go down as one of the most dominating Pittsburgh Pirates homestands of all-time.

The Pirates defeated the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals by a difference of 43-4. The highlight was a three-game shutout sweep of the Cardinals. This is the first time the Pirates did this since 1976.

The Pirates opened the homestand by dismantling the New York Mets in three straight games, posting scores of 9-1, 9-2, and 12-1. Over the sweep, the Pirates averaged 10 runs per game, marking their most prolific offensive series since sweeping the Philadelphia Phillies in 2019.

Pittsburgh’s pitching remained redhot in beating St. Louis 7-0, 1-0 and then 5-0. This stretch wasn’t just dominant—it was historic. The Pirates became the first team in MLB history to score 43+ runs while allowing fewer than 5 over a six-game span.
