With the sixth overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Seth Hernandez, a hard-throwing right-hander from Corona High School in California. Standing 6-foot-4 and armed with a fastball that touches 100 mph, Hernandez also features a devastating changeup and polished mechanics that earned him Gatorade National Player of the Year honors. Seen as a potential top-of-the-rotation arm, he brings both elite upside and rare poise for such a young pitcher.
Sportsvival scouted Hernandez and published the below scouting report on him earlier in the offseason.

What Sportsvival sees:
Seth Hernandez could have went as high as first overall. The Pirates have added yet another top of the rotation type pitcher to their organization. It would be fun to see Hernandez and Skenes in the same rotation.
