What does the tape say?:
Positives
Smooth and quick stickwork.
Plays a complete game
Hockey IQ
Sound positioning
Finds open areas on offense
Negatives
Skating is sluggish and lacks explosion
Struggles with battles along the boards
Pace of game…struggles when game is moving fast
Puck possession can be lacking at times because of skating.
What Sportsvival says:
Desnoyers belongs in the top 10, but needs to improve his skating and physicality against the boards. His hockey IQ and decision making are elite, but without the elite wheels, he may struggle at the NHL level. A lot of scouts see Desnoyers as a Sean Couturier clone. Sportsvival also sees this comparison, but Desnoyers is not as polished as Couturier was at this point in his career.
