The NHL Draft is right around the corner and Sportsvival is here to help go over the top prospects who should be selected on June 27th in Los Angeles.
Today we scout:
RW- Porter Martone
Brampton (OHL)
6’3” 207 lbs.
Porter Martone was born October 26, 2006 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
Following the 2021-2022 season, in which he scored 41 goals and 63 assists in 53 games for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 AAA along with helping the team win the silver medal at the OHL Cup, Martone was selected fifth overall by the Sarnia Sting in the first round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.
In 2022-2023, Martone debuted with Sarnia, playing a bottom-six forward role. He scored 6 goals and 7 assists in 29 games before being traded to the Mississauga Steelheads. After the trade, Martone played on a higher line and finished the season with 13 goals and 9 assists in 32 games.
The 2023-2024 season saw Martone develop into one of the league's best goal scorers. In 60 games, the right winger tallied 33 goals and 38 assists.
The 2024-2025 season saw Mississauga move to Brampton, but youngster Porter Martone kept up his scoring touch. In 57 games, Martone scored 37 goals and 61 assists for a career high 98 points.

Defensive positioning
What the Vival sees:
Porter Martone is a winger who plays with an edge and is not afraid to use his big body to create chaos in the offensive end. He is exceptional at setting up in soft spots and is always in position to get a stick on the puck. His physicality will make him a handful for a defenseman to deal with. His skating will need to be improved. His lack of top end speed will keep him from being a game breaker.
Sportsvival sees a lot of Corey Perry in the way Martone plays. He should be a top five pick.
