The MLB Draft is coming fast and Sportsvival is here to help go over the top prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Today we scout:
SS/3B- Ethan Holliday
Stillwater High School (Oklahoma)
6’4” 200 lbs.
Ethan Holliday was born February 23, 2007 and attends Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
In 2022, he was a member of the United States national baseball team that won the U-15 Baseball World Cup and was named the tournament’s top shortstop.
Holliday is the son of ex-MLB star Matt Holliday and the brother of Baltimore Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday. Ethan has committed to attend Oklahoma State University , who are coached by his uncle Josh Holliday.
His brother Jackson Holliday went No. 1 overall in 2022. Jackson has stated several times that Ethan is better than he was at each stage of his progression.
What does the tape say?
Positives
First and foremost…he has a ton of baseball DNA.
Smooth left handed swing
Exit velocity is impressive at his age
Has frame to add more muscle and weight
Good job of hitting where the ball is pitched…can drive the ball to the opposite field
Should develop plus power
Weaknesses
Swing and miss issues
Will overreach when pitchers are trying to pitch around him
Once frame fills out, should knock a step or two off his speed
Projects as a 3B once his fills out
Needs to shorten his swing
What the Vival sees
Ethan Holliday is the top high school prospect in 2025 and could follow in brother Jackson’s footsteps by hearing his name called first overall in the MLB draft. Reminds Sportsvival of a left-handed version of his father.
