Today we scout:

RHP- Seth Hernandez

Corona High School (California)

6’4” 190 lbs.

Seth Hernandez was born on June 28, 2006 in Chino, California.

Hernandez was homeschooled during his freshman and sophomore seasons of high school.

In 2024 as a junior, Hernandez went 9-0 with a 0.62 ERA and 73 strikeouts. As a hitter, he hit .352 with eight home runs and 34 RBI. He was named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in California.

Hernandez entered the 2025 season as one of the top high school prospects for the 2025 MLB draft.

As a senior, Hernandez has put up mind boggling numbers. He is 9-0 with an 0.14 ERA. He has struck out 96 in 48 ⅓ innings while only giving up one earned run.

Hernandez has committed to Vanderbilt University and is mentioned as the possible first overall pick heading into the 2025 MLB Draft.

What the tape says:

Positives:

  • Repeatable, loose delivery

  • Comfortable throwing all four pitches

  • Fastball touches 98 mph

  • Athletic build

  • Control

Negatives

  • Location of secondary pitches

  • Can tip-off when throwing breaking pitches.

What the Vival sees:

Seth Hernandez is beyond dominant at the high school level and has the body build and arsenal to succeed against better competition. He should go no worse than top five and Sportsvival would not be surprised to hear his name called first overall.
