Sportsvival Draft Prospect:
Cam Coleman, WR, Texas
A big-play target with the size, body control and scoring ability to become a quarterback’s best friend.
Position: Wide Receiver
School: Texas
Class: Junior
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 204 pounds
Hometown: Phenix City, Alabama
High School: Central
NFL Draft Eligibility: 2027
BACKGROUND AND RECRUIT PROFILE
Cam Coleman arrived in college football with expectations that matched his considerable talent. A five-star recruit from Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, Coleman caught 61 passes for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior. He helped Central win the Class 7A state championship and earned championship-game MVP honors.
Coleman began his college career at Auburn before transferring to Texas for the 2026 season. His move placed him in Steve Sarkisian’s offense alongside quarterback Arch Manning, giving the Longhorns another dangerous receiving weapon.
For Sportsvival, the attraction starts with the combination of length and movement skills. Coleman offers the frame teams want in an outside receiver, along with the athletic ability to threaten beyond the first-down marker. His upside extends well beyond being a target for jump balls.
COLLEGE CAREER
Coleman made an immediate impact at Auburn, finishing his 2024 freshman season with 37 receptions for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, earning SEC All-Freshman recognition.
He followed with 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns in 2025. Across two Auburn seasons, Coleman totaled 93 catches, 1,306 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
Those seasons established his scoring ability while leaving room for further development. Coleman entered his junior year with meaningful SEC experience, but his NFL evaluation still requires looking beyond touchdown totals. The next step is becoming the receiver who consistently creates an answer when the defense knows where the football needs to go.
2026 SEASON
Through Texas’ October 17 game against Florida, Coleman’s individual game totals stand at 19 receptions for 322 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 16.9 yards per catch.
His strongest yardage performance came against Oklahoma, with five catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. He followed with three receptions for 18 yards and a touchdown against Florida.
The scoring production deserves attention. Six touchdowns on 19 receptions shows how frequently his catches have finished drives. However, the receiving volume also gives Sportsvival something to monitor. A receiver with Coleman’s ability should strive to influence games between the scoring opportunities, helping sustain possessions and giving Manning dependable throws throughout the afternoon.
The remaining schedule provides an opportunity to show that complete contribution. More consistent involvement, especially against quality coverage, would strengthen his case near the top of the receiver class.
WHAT SPORTSVIVAL LIKES
Size and catch radius: Coleman has the dimensions to give quarterbacks room for error. His length creates opportunities on throws outside his frame, particularly along the boundary and above a defender’s reach.
Vertical ability: Our projection begins with his potential to stretch coverage. Coleman can make a cornerback respect the deep route, creating opportunities for intermediate throws when defenders protect against getting beaten over the top.
Body control: One of the most appealing parts of his skill set is his ability to adjust to the football. Tracking a pass and positioning his body to finish the reception are essential traits for an outside receiver, particularly when the available throwing window is small.
Touchdown potential: Coleman projects as a valuable target near the goal line. His frame gives an offense options on fades, back-shoulder throws and routes that allow him to use his body to protect the catch point.
Room to develop: Sportsvival sees a receiver whose eventual ceiling depends on how well he combines those physical tools with the finer details of the position. There is potential for a more complete player as his releases, timing and route execution improve.
AREAS COLEMAN CAN IMPROVE
Consistent separation: The biggest evaluation point is how reliably Coleman can create space against strong coverage. Winning difficult catches is valuable, but an NFL starter must also give his quarterback clean throwing windows.
Route precision: Coleman can strengthen his projection by becoming more deliberate with his stems, pacing and breaks. Selling multiple routes from the same initial movement will help keep defenders from anticipating his destination.
Answers against press coverage: NFL cornerbacks will challenge his release and timing. Developing several dependable ways to defeat contact at the line will be important, particularly if his primary role is outside.
Steady involvement: Sportsvival wants to see more games in which Coleman contributes across all four quarters. That includes converting third downs, working back toward the quarterback and producing when the deep ball is unavailable.
Complete receiving responsibility: Finishing routine catches, blocking with consistent effort and making sound decisions after the reception all matter. Those details will help determine whether he becomes a complete starter or a player whose impact depends heavily on particular matchups.
NFL COMPARISON
Sportsvival comparison: Tee Higgins
Higgins provides a useful stylistic comparison because of his length, ability to adjust to the football and effectiveness working outside the numbers. Sportsvival envisions Coleman filling a similar receiving role, giving his quarterback a substantial target who can threaten vertically and finish contested opportunities.
This comparison describes the role Coleman could grow into. Reaching that level will require more consistent separation, reliable execution and sustained production.
Coleman has the physical foundation to become an important outside receiver. His development in those areas will determine how much of the passing game an NFL offense can build around him.
2027 NFL DRAFT PROJECTION
Sportsvival projection: First round, with top-15 potential.
Coleman’s combination of size, athletic upside and touchdown production puts him firmly in our first-round conversation. Sportsvival had him ranked No. 2 among wide receivers in its October 15 positional rankings, and he remains a prospect with the tools to justify an early selection.
His path toward the top 15 depends on showing a more complete receiving profile. Consistent production against quality defensive backs, improved route detail and dependable work in critical situations would strengthen that projection.
His eventual draft position will also depend on athletic testing, the remainder of his season and whether he declares. At this stage, Sportsvival views him as a potential starting outside receiver with considerable room to grow.
SPORTSVIVAL FINAL TAKE
Cam Coleman gives NFL evaluators plenty to work with. He has the frame to challenge defensive backs, the catch radius to help his quarterback and the scoring ability to change a possession with one reception.
The next step is consistency. Sportsvival wants to see Coleman turn his physical advantages into dependable production throughout a game, especially when opponents challenge his release or take away the vertical throw.
There is first-round talent here. If Coleman continues refining the details and becomes a more consistent focal point of the Texas passing attack, he has the potential to develop into a dangerous NFL starter.
“If not for sports, how would we survive?”
