What does the tape say?
Positives
Wicked lefty fastball that sits around 95-99 mph early in game
Good movement on fastball, capable of generating swing and miss at a high rate.
Toolbox of pitches includes a slider, cutter, and a changeup
Uses the top of the strike zone well
Fastball is one of the best in the draft class.
Weaknesses
Command is still a work in progress
Needs to improve is secondary pitches
Delivery is unorthodox and he has issues with repeating it consistently
What the Vival sees
Liam Doyle exploded on the scene in 2025. His fastball is arguably the best in the class and his splitter is an excellent compliment. Although he is not polished, he has the ceiling to go high in the draft and become a top of the rotation pitcher.
