Jacob Misiorowski delivered a dominant outing, pitching seven innings of one-run ball to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-2 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Milwaukee jumped all over rookie Bubba Chandler early, plating four runs in the first inning and tacking on single tallies in the second and third. Misiorowski scattered three hits while striking out eight, earning his first win since June and helping the Brewers match a franchise-high 34 games over .500 at 89-55.
Andrew Vaughn spearheaded the offensive onslaught with a four-hit performance—his first four-hit game since August 2024—including two singles and a double that drove in key runs. Jake Bauers continued his torrid series with a two-run double in the opener, and Brice Turang chipped in with a two-run single in the third. Milwaukee’s lineup combined for 14 hits, overwhelming Pittsburgh’s pitching staff and keeping momentum firmly on the road team’s side all afternoon.
On the mound for Pittsburgh, top prospect Bubba Chandler struggled in his first Major League start, lasting just 2 2⁄3 innings and surrendering nine hits and three walks. He loaded the bases to open the game before giving up a double to Bauers and an RBI single to Vaughn, seeing his ERA balloon from 2.25 to 7.36, after giving up nine earned runs in under three innings. Despite the triple-digit heat on his fastball, Chandler’s inability to locate offspeed pitches allowed Milwaukee’s hitters to tee off early and often.
Sunday’s victory completed a three-game sweep—the second time Milwaukee has swept Pittsburgh this season—and extended the Brewers’ winning streak against the Pirates to eight straight dating back to June. The loss dropped Pittsburgh to 64-80 overall and 42-33 at home, while Milwaukee remained atop the NL Central with a commanding division lead. The sweep underscored Milwaukee’s offensive depth and dominance over the Pirates in 2025.
After the series loss, the Pirates will hit the road to open a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Tuesday, September 9. Right-hander Mike Burrows (2-4, 4.08 ERA) is slated to get the ball for Pittsburgh, while Baltimore’s starter is still to be announced. Pittsburgh is coming off sweeping the Dodgers and getting swept by the Brewers in this up and down season.
