Impact HVAC Player of the Week: Week 6
LaNorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina
Brought to you by Impact HVAC!
Winning on the road in the SEC takes poise, execution and a quarterback who can deliver when his team needs him. South Carolina received all three from LaNorris Sellers. The Gamecocks quarterback accounted for five touchdowns in a 38–19 victory at Florida, earning our Sportsvival Impact HVAC Player of the Week for Week 6.
It was another crowded field, featuring two 200-yard rushers, an explosive passing performance, a disruptive defensive effort and a record-tying afternoon by a tight end. Sellers gets the nod for combining touchdown production with mistake-free passing in a difficult road environment.
The Performance
Opponent: Florida
Result: South Carolina won, 38–19
Passing: 23-of-35, 279 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions
Rushing: 14 carries, 20 yards, one touchdown
Total offense: 299 yards and five touchdowns
Sellers spread his four touchdown passes among Nyck Harbor, Mazeo Bennett Jr., Donovan Murph and Lex Cyrus. He also scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak. After Florida cut South Carolina’s lead to 17–13 in the third quarter, Sellers answered with a touchdown pass to Murph, helping the Gamecocks take control.
The biggest number might be the zero in the interception column. Five touchdowns will grab attention, but producing those scores without giving the opponent an interception makes the performance even more valuable. Sellers gave South Carolina the finishing ability it needed.
Background: The Path to This Moment
A Florence, South Carolina native, Sellers developed into the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback after spending his first college season in a reserve role. His breakout 2024 season included 2,534 passing yards and 18 touchdown passes, establishing him as a quarterback capable of stressing defenses through the air and on the ground. At approximately 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, he has the size to complement his mobility.
That combination gives Sellers considerable upside. Defenses must account for his ability to escape pressure and extend a possession, while still respecting what he can do as a passer. Against Florida, the passing production carried the afternoon.
NFL Draft Stock
Sportsvival evaluation: Stock up, with consistency still the key.
Sellers has the physical tools to draw serious NFL interest: size, mobility and the ability to create when a play breaks down. Our evaluation will continue to focus on how consistently he pairs those tools with accurate passing, timely decisions and sound pocket management.
This performance strengthens his case. Four touchdown passes without an interception is the kind of production evaluators want to see alongside the athletic ability. The next step is stacking games like this together. One afternoon should not settle a draft grade, but this was a strong addition to his résumé.
The Runners-Up
1) Jamal Roberts, RB, Missouri
Stats: 34 carries, 222 rushing yards and two touchdowns; three receptions for eight yards; 230 yards from scrimmage.
Result: Missouri defeated Texas A&M, 27–6.
Last week’s winner came right back with another performance worthy of the award. Roberts handled a massive workload and averaged approximately 6.5 yards per carry, giving Missouri a dependable offensive foundation. Back-to-back 200-yard rushing games will keep him near the top of our weekly conversations.
2) Noah Fifita, QB, Arizona
Stats: 16-of-23 passing, 341 yards, three touchdowns and one interception; three carries for one yard.
Result: Arizona defeated West Virginia, 52–31.
Fifita made his completions count, averaging more than 21 yards per completed pass. Arizona generated explosive production without needing a high volume of throws. For our scouting purposes, this was another opportunity to evaluate Fifita’s ability to turn efficient passing into substantial offensive damage.
3) Kamari Moulton, RB, Iowa
Stats: 26 carries, 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns; one reception for minus-two yards.
Result: Iowa defeated Washington, 41–24.
Moulton supplied the kind of rushing performance that can dictate an entire game. His eight-yard average gave Iowa both sustained production and the ability to gain yards in chunks. A 200-yard outing on the road earns him a well-deserved place among this week’s finalists.
4) Dylan Stewart, EDGE, South Carolina
Stats: Five tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss and two forced fumbles.
Result: South Carolina defeated Florida, 38–19.
Sellers receives the award, but Stewart deserves recognition for his contribution on the other side of the ball. Two forced fumbles highlight why a defender’s impact cannot be measured by tackles alone. Stewart brought disruption, making him South Carolina’s second representative among our Week 6 honorees.
5) Patrick Overmyer, TE, Houston
Stats: Eight receptions, 83 receiving yards and four touchdown catches; one carry for one yard.
Result: Houston defeated Kansas State, 35–16.
Overmyer delivered the most historic performance on this week’s list. His four touchdown receptions tied the FBS single-game record for touchdown catches by a tight end. He became the first FBS tight end to accomplish the feat since Coastal Carolina’s Isaiah Likely against Arkansas State in 2021.
Half of Overmyer’s receptions ended in the end zone. That kind of finishing deserves attention, and it gives us another tight end performance to revisit in our scouting coverage.
Congratulations, LaNorris Sellers!
Roberts pushed hard for a second consecutive award, and Overmyer put his name alongside a remarkable record. But this week’s honor belongs to Sellers, whose five-touchdown performance helped South Carolina leave Gainesville with a convincing victory.
