Week 4 had everything: Texas surviving a road test, Florida knocking Ole Miss from No. 2, Oregon winning a ranked showdown, and three other teams in Sportsvival’s Top 25 falling to unranked opponents. The rankings below are Sportsvival’s Week 4 rankings entering the games, so the results show how the weekend reshaped the poll.

No. 1 Texas 20, No. 14 Tennessee 17: The Longhorns went into Knoxville and escaped with their top ranking intact. Tennessee gave Texas one of its toughest tests yet, but the Longhorns found enough to win on the road.
Florida 52, No. 2 Ole Miss 28: The biggest shakeup near the top came in Gainesville. Florida scored 52 against a team that had entered the week at No. 2, turning this into a statement win and sending Ole Miss tumbling in the new poll.
No. 3 Georgia 41, Oklahoma 13: Georgia left little doubt against Oklahoma. With Ole Miss losing, the Bulldogs strengthened their case for a spot directly behind Texas.
No. 4 Notre Dame 49, Purdue 10: Notre Dame handled its road trip decisively. The Irish kept the pressure on the teams above them with a 39-point win.
No. 5 Indiana 29, Northwestern 23: Indiana got the win Friday, though Northwestern made the Hoosiers work for it. A six-point victory kept Indiana unbeaten while giving voters a closer result to weigh.
No. 6 Miami (FL) 52, Central Michigan 3: Miami delivered one of the most complete scorelines of the weekend. The Hurricanes took care of business before the schedule gets more demanding.
No. 7 Ohio State 42, Illinois 19: Ohio State put up 42 against a Big Ten opponent and continued to build momentum after its earlier loss to Texas.
No. 8 Alabama 49, South Carolina 18: Alabama’s offense made this a comfortable win. The Crimson Tide remained firmly in the top-10 conversation.
No. 9 Texas Tech 49, Sam Houston 14: The Red Raiders kept rolling with another 49-point performance. They enter Week 5 with a place in the top 10.
No. 10 BYU: BYU did not play in Week 4. Its position in the new rankings reflects the results around it.
No. 11 USC 27, No. 18 Oregon 41: Oregon won the ranked matchup and won it convincingly. The Ducks’ 14-point victory moves them up, while USC has to regroup after allowing 41.
No. 12 LSU 35, No. 20 Texas A&M 6: LSU owned this ranked SEC matchup. Holding Texas A&M to six points made the Tigers one of the weekend’s clearest winners.
No. 13 Utah 31, Iowa State 17: Utah came away with a solid road win and continued its climb.
No. 15 Michigan 19, No. 19 Iowa 20: Iowa edged Michigan by a point in one of the weekend’s tightest ranked matchups. That win gave the Hawkeyes a strong argument for a jump in Sportsvival’s poll.
No. 16 Louisville 27, Wake Forest 30: Louisville’s three-point loss opened the door for teams just outside the Top 25. Wake Forest deserves credit for finishing the upset.
No. 17 Penn State 20, Wisconsin 24: Wisconsin handed Penn State a home loss. For the Nittany Lions, it was a damaging result in a weekend when several nearby teams won.
No. 21 Missouri 24, No. 25 Mississippi State 31: Mississippi State won a ranked SEC matchup and made its case to move up. Missouri had a chance to protect its place in the poll and could not get it done.
No. 22 SMU 34, Missouri State 24: SMU won, but Missouri State stayed within 10 points. The Mustangs survived a closer game than they would have wanted.
No. 23 Washington 24, Minnesota 27: Washington joined the list of ranked teams upset in Week 4. Minnesota’s three-point win cost the Huskies their place in the new Top 25.
No. 24 Florida 52, No. 2 Ole Miss 28: Florida’s result bears repeating when accounting for every ranked team: the Gators entered at No. 24 and came out with the weekend’s biggest win.
No. 25 Mississippi State 31, No. 21 Missouri 24: The Bulldogs also entered as a lower-ranked team in a Top 25 matchup and emerged with a win, adding another ranked result to a turbulent weekend.
When the smoke cleared: Sportsvival’s new Week 5 Top 25
